Course> Urban Ecology. SLU Ultuna.

Location> Uppsala, Sweden.

Year> Autumn 2022

This project follows the “good enough” principle.

This exercise follows a proposal to develop the southeastern part of Uppsala and focuses on the first phase which aims to densify the existing road 255, which connects scattered developments with the city centre.

Phase 1

Goals for the main artery, street 255:

  • Connect the existing development with Uppsala in terms of dynamism.

  • Create a vibrant street by providing services.

  • Local stormwater management.

Grey buildings are existing and orange are the proposed ones.

Street 255

It focuses on implementing successive transformations to integrate natural processes in the rain garden. It is a mutating element that collects, canalises, and helps treat stormwater from a new street as a transformation of existing infrastructure.
