Winner proposal for the competition for the avenue renewal launched by Lleida´s municipality in 2013.
The competition focused on a socio-economic transformation of the central avenue linked to an urban restoration.
With a budget of 2 million euros, we proposed a five-year plan to successfully transform the historic avenue into a dynamic and active pedestrian street with flexible strategies that put the inhabitants in the centre.
ANALYSIS
We prioritised the inhabitants in a harsh economic crisis.
We develop a very extended analysis of the preexistences for understanding what does not work, which is the strongest character of the area that needs to be REVALUATE, which elements could be RELOCATED and what could be REUSE. With this strategy, we could reduce the costs and INVESTS IN PEOPLE.
The proposal contemplates the creation of workplaces, and the main goal is to reactivate from an economic point of view and engage communities.
Four branches of action with two specific plans. The first and last one acts on the urban intervention. The focus is reducing traffic, prioritising pedestrians and improving the connections on the edges.
The second branch is related to the general promotion and management of the project; the newly generated PROMOTION TABLE aims to create a digital platform and an identity brand associated with the project.
The two last ones are related to cultural management.
